Well needed break

Patrick and I took a little break this week and came to Destin, FL for a little R&R. A mere 8 hours from Nashville, and perfect white sand beaches, who wouldn't try to get away for a few days? We arrived early Monday and have to leave tomorrow afternoon. Three days here really isn't enough, so we are already trying to plan the next trip. Really, I think we should just move here!

Brain Teaser Tuesday

Sometimes people call these brain bats and sometimes they are called Wuzzles, but basically, you figure out the phrase from what you see. For example:

Theroadiamondugh

would be "a diamond in the rough"

See if you can figure out these:

Answer Friday

This one definitely required a pen and paper. The answer was Colonel Mustard in the Library with the revolver....wait... uh...sorry... wrong game.

Really, it was that good for nothing Charlie stealing all the art.
(Those Charley's are always a little sneaky : )

Latest Fashion Show

Last Saturday I finished another fashion show project. This one was a show for Lipscomb University and was my "showiest" of shows yet complete with children, male models, costume changes, and music. It turned out pretty well, and now I get to take a little break. I don't have any other shows scheduled for awhile and I am glad. 5 shows in 5 weeks is plenty.

New Garden Box

Patrick and Adam have been working this month on a garden box in the back yard. It seems that it is a pretty involved project that has required many power tools (tillers, mowers, saws, drills) and just as many non-power tools (beer, cigars, Jack Daniel's). I feel the project might go a bit quicker without the latter, but I won't interfere with "the process". I am just hoping we'll get something planted by June!

...ah yes, and the boys really love for Sassy to help them in the yard- especially when she is wearing clothing.

Catching up

Easter-
We had a pretty nice low- key Easter this year. We went to brunch with our good friends and neighbors Adam and Rondi at the Union Station in downtown Nashville. I was originally going to cook, but decided we could eat out for pretty much the same as it would cost me to cook a big meal and it would be a whole lot better too...  Sassy didn't get to come to dinner, but here she is in her Easter dress- it has a bunny on it!

Busy little spring bees

The Baird's have been busy little bees this last few weeks and I have had a hard time finding time to post. I'll get to it tonight or tomorrow, but I wanted to make sure you all didn't think we died.

Laundry Day

Here is Sassy working hard on those laundry skills I so desperately want her to learn.

Brain Teaser Tuesday

This one is for Kristin-

A woman gave birth to two boys on the same day in the same year within minutes of each other, yet they were not twins. How is this possible?

Some things change...

some things never do. Like my incredible ability to kill plants with the swiftness of Round-up. I got this pretty plant at Costco last week. There was a lady there that was buying one the same time as I was and she said she had one last year and hers lasted 2 months and she didn't re-pot it or anything. I thought I could at least keep it alive a month and it would be cheaper than buying a bouquet every week for the table. Oh yeah, sure it looks nice now, but don't be fooled. It has already lost several blooms and palms.  I figured I better take a picture now before it was totally dead.

Although I enjoyed all the creative answers to the brain teaser, the genius Simon was the one who got it right. He juggled them.

Picky little thing

Sassy has always been a picky eater- even with treats. We don't ever feed her human food, but she sure knows which dog food she likes. When she was a puppy, I used to feed her Beneful from Purina. It has four different colors for food pellets- red, green, orange, and brown. Sassy used to pick out the orange ones and not eat them. The reds were her favorites and she would eat those first, then the greens, and if she absolutely had to she would eat the browns, but never the oranges. I switched her to a Iams Naturals about 6 months ago. It is all one color, so I thought this might cut down on her picky-ness. Well, she never really seemed to like the Iams that much, and last week when we ran out Patrick bought her Beneful again (mostly, I think, because there wasn't Iams at the store). Anyway, I took this picture last night, and  it seems things haven't changed- orange is still gross and red is still the best. These are all her discarded orange pieces- I thinks it's really funny.
