Our Next Big Adventure

Home from one and soon off to another. Patrick's mom and stepfather just called and invited us to go with them to Waikiki at the end of June- So, off to Hawaii we go! Patrick has been before, but I haven't, so we are both really excited. We have been wanting to go for awhile, but just hadn't planned the trip yet. Now I just have to work on my "beach body" : )

Happy Birthday to little Brandon

Here we are with little Brandon, who turned 1 on the 24th.  He can walk now and say a few words- he is even big enough now to be a big brother. Yes, it seems he will be getting a sibling in October. Congratulations to Brandon (and Jackie and Fred) on the new baby and for making it to 1 year!

Patrick and I arrived home safely late last night. We had a great time, and now are looking forward to our next adventure.  Thanks everyone for the hospitality and good time!

What's your name done for you?

In celebration of the new Terminator movie Pizza Hut ran a random promotion that anyone with the name Sarah or John Connor could come in and get a free pizza today. Sarah of course took full advantage and she and the kids and I enjoyed their generosity tonight. Here's a cute picture of Sadie and little Atticus playing after dinner.

Got the dirt?

We do! We called the dirt guy and asked him to bring enough dirt to fill our little garden. Well we got a huge dump truck and now our yard is filled with dirt. Mud slide anyone? And no it isnt that funny yet.

The newest addition to our ford family. Last week we bought a little ranger off Craigs list so Patrick could have a work truck. The neighbors are jealous.

The Biggest and the Smallest

Our friend Adam brought his Great Dane Bently over for a visit the other night. Sassy doesn't much care for him, but we tried to make her pose for a picture anyway. Hard to believe they are even the same species.

Iron Fork

Patrick and I went to an event called "The Iron Fork" this week. It is basically like a version of the Iron Chef where local chefs compete to create two different dishes in an hour with a secret ingredient that is only revealed seconds before the competition starts. The best part is that local restaurants set up booths with all kinds of food and drink for you to taste. We had fun eating our way through the hall and watching the chefs battle it out. It is as close as you can get to Food Network here in Nashville.

Here is Patrick trying to spy on one team while they plan their menu. They didn't like his suggestion of franks and beans as a main dish.

Chefs battle it out over the secret ingredient red asparagus.

Hilarious quote of the week

Joe Biden to ABC's Robin Roberts: I'm Humbled by Cheering, Spontaneous Crowds

In an interview last week,Vice President Joe Biden was asked the question "What Humbles You?" His response was as follows:

In a serious tone, Biden responded, "...Everywhere I go, crowds spontaneously assemble. They start to cheer, whether I go to a play on Broadway or I'm going home to Wilmington, Delaware. I walk on the train. People stand up and clap."

Umm... OK. I'm not really sure that's what "humble" means, but he is part of the Obama administration so he obviously knows all.

Despite your political view, you have to admit this quote is hilarious.

So I pose the question to you- What humbles you?

Here's what humbles me:
Sunday was Nancy Appretiation Day and it really humbles me that I have my own holiday that is celebrated year after year. I am also so very humbled by the fact that all my family and friends take time out of their busy lives to call and tell me how much they appreciate and love me : )
hehe

(If you are unaware of Nancy Appreciation Day, let me know and I will explain.)

All the Hype

I usually do not care about boxing at all. I don't really pay attention to it, and I don't find it that entertaining, but Patrick and I went to watch the fight last night. Why? Because I wanted to! Yes, I bought into all the hype surrounding this fight. While we were on vacation, I caught about 10 minutes of the HBO series about these two fighters and that was all it took to get me hooked. HBO sure does know how to amp up their pay per view ratings. All that hype and the fight only lasted 1.5 rounds. I guess it wasn't as close a match as they all said!

Late answer Friday

Sorry this is late- we got back late last night from Destin and I had to work early today and I am just getting home now from a 12 hour day. Alright, everyone was very close, and some of your answers were actually better than the real ones, but technically, here are the answers:

1. Are you ready?
2. A change of fortune
3. Long coffee break

I'm glad to see my family is enjoying these- you guys are pretty smart!
