Day on the river

Patrick and I rented kayaks today and took a little trip down the river. We had a GREAT time! I think we might buy our own and take it up as a hobby. It was so nice and peaceful out there on the river, that we didn't want to leave. Sassy came with us, and I'm not quite sure if she liked it or not. She jumped in the river twice and came out upset and shaking. Everyone we passed though thought she was a pretty cute little sailor. I think so too!

Sassy Swimmer

Well, not so much "swimmer" yet. We bought Sassy a pool and this is as far as she has gotten yet to getting in herself. She gets scared when we put her in it and she has to swim to the edge. Hopefully soon she will learn to love it. Spoiled dog? No! What makes you think that?...

Firefighter Patrick

Today was a big day for Patrick. After 5 months of training, he graduated today and is now a Volunteer Fire Fighter in Pleasant View. The fire department here in town is one of the best volunteer organizations in the country, and to graduate and be on the squad, you have to go through all the training professional fire fighters go through. I am very proud of him and all he has accomplished!
If you would like to read more about the fire department, I linked thier website to the title. Just click on it and you can check out all the things they do.

Memorial weekend BBQ

We had some friends over last night for a BBQ. Patrick and I decided it was our best time of entertaining yet. That's because we kept things really easy. I didn't get all ambitious and try to cook all these tricky things. We just had hamburgers, hotdogs, grilled vegetables and potato salad that I bought from the deli. The best part was that he and I actually got to relax and have a good time too, instead of running around trying to fix everyting. What is that saying- "keep it simple stupid." Yeah, that's us!

Sassy had fun too as you can see.

They're growing!

I am proud to report that my flowers are actually growing! I can't believe it! All three pots that I planted have things coming up. No flowers yet, but I'm sure it won't be long. This is a first for me- I usually kill everything within a few days. I am amazed that Sassy and Patrick are still alive to tell you the truth. Maybe this is a new start for me- I am turning over a new leaf- a green leaf that is.... haha.

Grillin' and Chillin'

I got home from work yesterday to find that Patrick had purchased us a grill. We had been meaning to get one for awhile, but never could get around to chosing one. We had hamburgers and hotdogs tonight, and they were very good. Bobby Flay has nothing on us!

Yay! Patrick's home!

Patrick got home from Louisiana late on Thursday night. He and Sassy and I spent the weekend staying at Opry Land, playing in the park, and relaxing on the deck. I have to work today for awhile, but we are both off again tomorrow, so we will have another day together! I would post pictures, but I don't have any. Unfortunately, the camera isn't working, Hopefully we will get it fixed soon. Hope everyone had a great weekend too!

Lawn Mower Girl

Yesterday I did something that I have never done before- mow the lawn! Since Patrick has been gone, the lawn has gotten pretty long. Dad cut it for me last week when he was here, but it rains so much here that it is tall again within a few days. I was nervous to try it, but it actually wasn't that hard. I rather enjoyed it! I was pretty proud of myself right up until I broke the lawn mower. It just stopped working in the middle of the back yard. I checked the gas- that wasn't it. I called the neighbor over and he couldn't figure out what was wrong either- so he finished mowing it for me. Ah- what is that saying- no good deed go unpunished. Yeah, that's me. At least I tried. When I told Patrick that I broke the lawn mower he said I didn't have to mow the lawn anymore. Maybe that's for the best!

Hooka anyone?

I went out with my friend Mallory last night. For those of you who don't know the Mallory story, I'll give you the brief version. Mallory and I have lived the same life but haven't met until recently. She grew up in LaJunta and we were in the same dance class when we were 3. She dated my cousin in high school and her best friend was the same girl that was my best friend in kindergarden. She went to CSU, where we had classes in the same building and knew the same people. After school, she moved to Denver where we hung out at the same places and she lived in the same apartment complex as a friend of mine. She moved to Nashville to get into the music industry and my cousin suggested she call me. Thus- we became friends.
Anyway, last night we went out with some friends of hers. We ended up at a Hooka Bar of all places! For those of you who have never done it, it is like inhailing flavored steam. It isn't really smoky at all, and there is very little tobacco in it. It was a fun new experience, and they had a belly dancer there and everything. I don't know that it is something I would do every week, but at least I can say I know what it is!

But Where's Patrick?

I'm sure some of you are wondering- "What so you all went and had fun and left Patrick and home?" Well, no, not quite. He has been out of town training in Louisiana. Of course, he ended up being gone during my parent's visit. He is upset to have missed them, and they are too. Things seem to be going well for him at this training, but Sassy and I really want him to come back! We miss him!

Honky Tonk Harrington's

While Mom and Dad were here we spent some time downtown at the famous Nashville honky tonks. This is where you can see the most amazing performers for free. Every bar has an amazing band just on the verge of being signed. It is always a great time and it makes you realize why the call it the music city.

Time at Opryland

We had a great time visiting the Opryland hotel. Patrick and I really love that place and I was excited to show it to mom and dad. For those of you who have never been there, all these pictures were taken inside the hotel- waterfall and all!

Day at the Park

Mom and Dad are here visiting for a week. The first day they were here we went to Centennial Park in downtown Nashville. We walked around the lake and the Parthenon. Sassy made plenty of new friends as always. After the park we went and had dinner down on Demonbruen street. So far we are having a great time!
