I'm going with there wasn't any water in the lake. Or, they were in a submarine... If it turned over they would still be inside and therefore could sink without getting wet. Or, they were scuba divers in wet suits protecting them from the water. Or, they were in one of those explorer bubble things.
I like your way of thinking. The Opryland Hotel actually WANTS you to pool crash. So let's do it the next time we come to visit. Also, have been listening to "The Roadhouse" on Sirius radio and definitely want to go to the Grand Ol' Opry too. Love, Mom

Riddle: Four men were in a boat on the lake. The boat turns over, and all four men sink to the bottom of the lake, yet not a single man got wet! Why?
