As the fifth anniversary of the Iraq war comes and goes, TV and radio talk shows are all a buzz with "experts" giving their opinions of the war and if we should stay or go, and every candidate claims their "way of change" is the best for us all. As for those of us actually living through it? He's still there, and I'm still here- nothing changes that- the rest is just static.

We all sleep soundly under the blanket of protection you and your husband provide. Your fellow citizens are, in the main, profoundly grateful for your sacrifices. Your friends and families look forward to Patrick's safe return almost as much as you do and we wish our love could completely ease your pain. But realize that it can't. We love you two immensely, nevertheless.
Can't even imagine all that Patrick has seen and done in the last 3 years. This picture is kind of scary though. Hope the cake was chocolate and not white.
