Out of the phone stone age

After 3 years with crappy phones Patrick and I finally got new ones today. l got an LG Dare and it's pretty cool. Here I'm experimenting with the camera. I wanted a phone with a good camera on it because I can never seem to keep up with my real one. This way
I'll always have one with me. Of course my first photo subject is The Sass.

Tennessee State Fair

So last week was a fun one but really busy. Sarah and Sadie and little Atticus came out for a few days for a visit. I know, I know,- where's the pictures? Well, like always, the camera was lost and out of batteries so I didn't get any. Sorry. I did, however, snap this one on the phone of Patrick at the state fair. The 5 of us went on Thursday to see what the fine people of TN had to offer us. It is not nearly as good as the CO fair, but it was fairly entertaining, and worth the $5. The most entertaining part was seeing the giant vegetables. There was a pumpkin in there that weighted over 1200lbs. Pretty incredible!

It was great to see Sarah and her kids. Sadie is getting so big- already in kindergarden, she is becoming quite her own little person. She still likes lots of attention and had quite the time playing Guitar Hero with Patrick. Atticus is his own little man and doesn't need anything from anyone. He want to do everything himself and is interested in anything that he can make noise with. I don't know how Sarah keeps up with them all the time- after 2 days Patrick and I were exhausted!

Breast Cancer Fashion Show

The first fashion show of the season I have done for the store was one for a breast cancer recovery program. All of the models were from the program and were great to work with. The camera was out of batteries, as always, so we didn't get the best pictures to share with you. For the most part, the show went well and was a good kick off to my fall season.
Today, I dressed some ladies for a fall fashion segment for a TV show. It was a bit stressful because the style writer from the newspaper was supposed to come commentate, but was really really late. The show was live so they had me all mic-ed up and ready to be on camera. I was a bit freaked out, but at the last second the lady showed up, so my TV debut will have to wait for another day.

The freshest Colorado Chilies.....

...here in Tennessee! These were only picked on Thursday and Mom sent these to us yesterday. We probably have fresher chilies all the way out here in The South than most Coloradoans are buying them at home. As you can see, we do have quite a few, so I have been spending the day roasting them. I have also already made green chili and chili rellenos. We have been without them since last winter, so we have both been really dying for some Colorado Mexican cooking. I must say, this white girl can make rellenos and chili to rival anyone south of the border! Now, if only I had a mexican stomach that could handle all of it I would be fine. As of now, I take mine with a side of Tums, oooh but it's so worth it!

Welcome back football!

NFL opening weekend! It's my favorite holiday! Here's to a great season.

The old arcade

On our last day off together, Patrick and I wondered into a arcade with all old games. It was a cool concept- you paid to get in and then all the games were free. We spent 2 hours playing old school games like PacMan, DigDug, Area 51, and Tetris. These are the only games I have ever really been able to figure out anyway, (I was never into those "new fangeled" X-Box things) so I was in heaven. It was really fun!

Eggs by Nancy

Check out these Eggs Benedict I made myself! I poached the eggs and everything! Martha Stewart has nothing on me- well she probably would have raised her own chickens and made her own muffins from scratch- but still! I'm proud!

Redecorating again

As you know, I like to decorate for the seasons. Fall is my favorite because it is a nice change and very cozy, but it doesn't take nearly the time that Christmas does. Not much has changed from last year, a few new additions, but nothing major. Sassy did get a pair new of Halloween pajamas though..

Titan's Pre-season

Our neighbor gave us some great tickets to the the Titan's game the other night. They were right on the end zone near the tunnel. It was so cool to be that close to the players! The game was awesome and we had a good time.

Arrington Vineyards

Patrick and I went to a lovely vineyard south of Nashville last weekend that we have been meaning to check out for awhile. The area is beautiful and they open it up to anyone who wants to come have a picnic. Kicks Brooks from the group Brooks and Dunn is a co-owner. The atmosphere is nice and the wine isn't too bad either! I recommend the Red Fox Red.

So what else have we been up to?

The end of the summer has been fun and busy. A few things have changed around the Baird house, so here's an update:

Patrick News:
He started school at Austin Paey University on Aug. 17th. He is working on a Psychology degree, which he is hoping to turn into a career in the FBI or US Marshals. The school he is attending does 5 week terms, so it is fast, but intense. He will be done with the first session on Oct 7th, so he is already about half way through. So far, he has really enjoyed it and has done well on all his tests.
Patrick also has a new job. His job landscaping was seasonal, so he is back to working as a valet. This time though, it is a way better gig. He is working at the Opryland Hotel, which is like Nashville's version of a Vegas casino. He just started this week and so far really likes it.
He turned 23 on August 21st. We had a nice dinner out with friends and he got a new rifle (shotgun?) for his gift. It is some antique Russian war gun requiring lots of love and finishing work. He and his friend Adam both got one so they have been working on them together.

We had our fourth anniversary on August 31st. Four years down and one to go as my mom would say....  : )

As for me, it's fall fashion time. I have 8 big events that I am working on for the store, which will keep me busy up until time to get ready for the holidays. Unfortunately, customers are already making me crazy, so my holiday retail ramblings might start a little early this year!

I'm following up this post with a few others accompanied with pictures. Hope you all are enjoying the end of your summers too. Happy Labor Day.
