Stock Show

For those of you who have never been to the Stock Show in Denver- this is what a National Champion Yak looks like. I thought you would like to know.

Mom and Dad and I had a great time Saturday at the show. We saw lots of great livestock and a super rodeo. Thanks Mom and Dad for a fun time!

Pretty Pretty Princess

Sarah and I played Pretty Pretty Princess with Sadie tonight. For those of you who don't know the world of Barbie board games, you spin, and put on the necklace, bracelet or ring that the board dictates, and if you are really lucky, YOU GET THE CROWN! Whoever gets all their jewelry pieces first wins. It is the perfect game- all about accessorizing! I love it! There is the BLACK RING though, that is apparently bad and you lose if you have it- but I kept telling Sadie that black accessories are so IN so we should want it! Sarah got mad because I was confusing the poor child- so I played by the GAME rules for the rest of the game trying as hard as I could to ignore the FASHION rules of today. I really wanted to win, so I was really sad when Sadie got all her jewels before I did. I stared to pout, but Sarah told me that I had to be an example of "good sportsmanship" and not protest- so I had to pretend like LOSING wasn't a "big deal". -Whatever. I have a degree in fashion! I should have won! Next time, it's ON little Sadie! That crown is MINE!

Nothin' New

I don't really have anything new to report. I have been working a lot this weekend- it's really cold here- not much of interest to blog about. I haven't talked to Patrick in a few days, so no new news there really either. So I found something funny to post for your enjoyment. I did a little search on the internet to see if there was something- anything interesting to write about, and I found these funny billboards. I got a little chuckle out of them- I'm sure you will too. I also linked a site to the title so you can check out more if you would like. Hope everyone is having a good week

Snow in TN= we're all going to die!

That's what people here think anyway. It don't think I will ever stop thinking this is funny. I pulled some choice comments from the news website so you can see how freaked out people get about the snow here-

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The threat of wintry weather this week has Metro Schools preparing for any weather emergency that may occur.
Administrators said Wednesday that workers with the transportation department will be monitoring the weather all night.
Phillips said each school bus driver has been instructed to check out their bus.
They must go through a long safety check to make sure they have enough fuel. They will also have to check their tires to make sure they are good for the road.
The district is also stocking up on extra food at every school in case students are forced to stay in school longer or have to return because of bad weather.
"Basically canned items, tuna salad, crackers, milk and so on," said Jay Nelson, director of food services. "But we just want to be sure children have something nourishing while they're here."

I especially like the part about needing extra food for the kids- like they are all going to be trapped and starve to death!

Now I know what you guys are thinking- "What's wrong with being cautious? Snow can be dangerous." Yes, snow can be dangerous- 6" or 12" might be cause for concern, but that's not what we get here- we will get 1/10 of an inch at the most. It did snow a little tonight, but it didn't even stick and it isn't cold enough to freeze. A snowy day here is like a pretty nice day in Colorado actually. These Southerners just aren't used to it I guess-That, or they just scare easily!
It suits me alright though because I don't really like the snow anyway and all these people with their canned food and propane heaters give me something to laugh about!

Yup, just checked online and as of right now school is closed for tomorrow!

PS: If you want to check out the snow yourself, I linked the Nashville Skycam to the title. Just click on it- but don't be disappointed if it is a snow white out and you can't see anything

Pictures from Iraq

On the Iraqi celebrity homes tour this is the first stop- Aladdin's childhood home....

This is Sassy's long lost cousin- Sassein Doggbibi. She's pretty cute, but she needs some clothes....

(Patrick didn't include captions, so I added my own.)

Visit with Doug

The only thing I wanted for Christmas from Doug was some of his time. I needed someone to come out and do some things around the house that I wouldn't/couldn't do myself. He was nice enough to comply, and now I have a nice, clean, mouse free garage! The trash is taken out, the oil is changed in the car, the garage door is working, the faucet is fixed- Men are nice to have around sometimes aren't they! : )
We also took a little time to have some fun. We went honky-tonkin' the other night and saw some great bands- and of course Sassy had fun with her Grandpa Doug too!

Here's one

Well I finally got a picture to up load. This is Sassy in her new flight jacket. I put some of Patrick's unit pins on there too so now she is just like her daddy! We went to the dog park today and she was the best dressed doggie there! (Um- the only dressed doggie there too, but that's not important).

Change- not always good

So, as I was trying to fix the blog I discovered that I can change the colors and type on the blog. I started playing with it, and realized that I liked it better the way it was before- so then I spend twice as much time trying to get it back! I still don't think it is quite right, but ah well- no big deal I guess.
Still working on the pictures.....

XXXXX UNDER CONSTRUCTION XXXXXX

Blogger is screwing up again! Or maybe it is me..... anyway, I am trying to get pictures up loaded and it isn't working.... : (
I will hopefully get it resolved today and be able to put us some pictures of Sassy in her cute new outfits!!!
I know you can't wait.

Whats Going On?

Hey,

It is the second of January of 2008. It seems unreal that it is already 08 when the Y2K buzz seems like yesterday. We had a pretty uneventful New Years here at the base nothing all that crazy happened which is good and honestly if anything did happen I probably couldn't tell you anyway. My buddies and I smoked cigars and dreamt about being home and all the things we can't wait to do. As you can read the post below I am now a SGT a Non Commissioned Officer. It is a huge step forward in the military and I am truly proud to be known as a leader of men. I heard Nancy was unable to make it to Denver, so all of those who read this from back home sorry you missed her. I would like to say congratulations to the Baca's, hopefully I can hold out on coming home till the due date. The Titans made it to the playoffs, of course I have to be 21 and a million miles away so I don't get to enjoy the Nashville buzz that I am sure is going on. Things here are good, has not rained yet but I imagine within the next few weeks it will downpour. We are all waiting on the Pres. to sign the bill already, we need that money. I do appreciate the packages that everyone has sent, that definitely helps morale. I work with a Captain and he is always jealous when I get a package and he doesn't, which that turns out to be like every other day. Well take care all, I should write soon.

Sassy and Grandpa

Sassy really likes her Gramps. I think he kinda likes her too!

Holiday update

Well well- haven't heard from me in a while have you? Well- that's not my fault. I have tried and tried to post some things from Christmas on this blog, but have had not luck with getting it to download! I will try again today and perhaps be a little more patient before getting frustrated and shutting the computer down. Anyway- here is how the holidays rolled out:

Chrismas Eve I surprised my family by showing up in Colorado. I was there through the early morning of the 27th and had the best time. I was able to see all of my relatives (except for Uncle Mike) while I was there and I really enjoyed getting to visit with everyone. One highlight of Christmas was getting to see Patrick on CNN. If you haven't looked at in on the internet yet you really should. He makes me so proud!
Now, by far the best gift I got this Christmas was a nephew!!! Jackie and Fred are having a baby in May! Patrick and I are so excited to be the cool aunt and uncle who spoil the crap out of this kid. We already decided he can come visit us for high school and college spring break and we'll buy him beer and show him a good time! I think Jackie might already be regretting their decision to make us God Parents! I can't wait!

Back in Tennessee on the 27th to face all the after Christmas retail craziness. It is the hardest couple of days because you are working really hard but you can't sell enough things to combat the returns and exchanges so you don't have anything to show for it at the end- other than a seriously messy store. All and all though we had a great holiday season and beat all of our numbers from last year. I am looking forward now to a few quiet days...

I was planning on going back to Colorado for the New Year-but difficulty with my flights is preventing that. I am disappointed to not see my friends, who I didn't get to see during Christmas, but I will be out again at the end of the month, so hopefully I will get to see everyone then. I will miss my parents New Year's party, but I know a fun time will be had by all and there will be plenty of food and drink- so I'm not worried.
As for Sassy and I- we are sleeping and internet shopping on the New Year. We might go to the grocery store too if we get really ambitious. It is actually nice to just stay in one place for awhile. I have a few days off from work so now that I won't be traveling I think I will use them to catch up on things that went by the wayside during the business of December- such as the laundry ; ( I have lots of resolutions this New Year- one of which is to be more organized- so no time like today to start.

I hope you all had a very wonderful holiday season. Best of luck in 2008- Patrick, Sassy and I wish you all the best!
